Cane&Austin-1334.jpg

Cane + Austin

CANE + AUSTIN began in the upper east side office of board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist, Dr. Craig Austin. After successfully treating countless patients with glycolic acid—the transformative, yet gentle skin care ingredient found in many of his in-office chemical peels—Dr. Austin set out to bring the professional-grade results of glycolic acid peels into his patient’s homes without the professional price tag.

Glycolic acid—the star ingredient and inspiration for the brand—is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) derived from cane sugar (hence the cane, in CANE + AUSTIN). Glycolic acid contains the smallest molecules of all AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) allowing it to penetrate the skin deeply and easily, breaking down dead skin cells, sebum and other pore-clogging substances. Glycolic acid is effective enough to treat most skin concerns including acne, blackheads, fine lines, oiliness and dullness and gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin types. With continued use, glycolic acid works to improve skin health over time.

Christophe_Robin-1383.jpg

Christophe Robin

Christophe Robin: "I am fascinated by women's natural beauty and the techniques used to enhance it. Showing off their skin tone, eyes and complexion without letting color dominate, ever... I want people to say a woman is beautiful and not that she has a beautiful hair color. Every woman must be welcomed in the same way: I analyze their faces and the nature of their hair so I can work with pigments, light and contrasts to find them the most natural-looking hair color. Over the years, I have tried to develop my product range for colored hair, based on the properties of rare or ancestral natural resources (prickly pear oil, lavender, chamomile and lemon) to offer deep nourishing treatments for hair that also maintain vibrant color. Some of my products can now be used for skin as well as for the hair, for both men and women".

Christophe Robin, the A-list colorist for more than 20 years, created in 1999 his hair care line selecting powerful natural ingredients for recognized long term results.

The_Laundress-2319.jpg

The Laundress

Gwen Whiting and Lindsey Boyd weren't always international soap mavens, delighting fashionistas, value seekers, and environmentalists from New York to New Delhi. Many laundry cycles ago, they were young fashion enthusiasts, launching careers in one of the world's best-dressed cities. As Gwen and Lindsey invested in building their wardrobes, they were confronted with the frustration of maintaining them: replacing prematurely worn items and paying painful dry cleaning bills.

Beginning in 2002, the pair spent two years researching and developing the very elixirs they longed for. Their result is the highly effective, nontoxic line of laundry and home cleaning products you find today online and in stores around the world. Each product is carefully crafted to work its magic on a specific fabric or surface with outstanding results.

A work of art built on science, The Laundress collection is sophisticated, eco-conscious, and easy to use.

Mason_Pearson-2401.jpg

Mason Pearson

In the middle of the 19th Century, the industrial revolution was accelerating and had become a hotbed for ideas and inventions in the mechanical world. It was the manufacturing equivalent in its day to Silicon Valley today. Mason Pearson, an Engineer and Inventor, began his career designing wool processing looms. He then married and moved from Bradford in Yorkshire, Northern England to London in the mid 1860s where he worked at the British Steam Brush Works in London’s East End. He joined a partnership, later known as Raper Pearson and Gill, which was in the business of general small-brush making. At the time, the brushes were made by hand.

Being a genius, Mason Pearson incorporated the knowledge from his time in the wool processing industry to spark the invention of an automatic brush-boring machine to speed up the whole process of brush making. In 1885 public recognition of this resulted in his being awarded a Silver Medal at the International Inventions Exhibition in London.

Rodin_Red_Hedy-2717.jpg

RODIN

After spending 35 years styling models for photo shoots and dressing the most formidable women in the world – including Laetitia Casta and Gisele Bündchen – New York-based fashion icon and stylist, Linda Rodin, sought a new path. Linda had always been devoted to natural skincare, and she often returned home from exotic beaches and far-flung photo shoots with essential oils and other local essences. Back in her Manhattan apartment she began concocting her own perfect elixir.

“What I longed for was something far simpler – products for the here-and-now, that caress the skin noticeably and without any delay. Nothing out there quite did that,” Linda says today. In 2007, her dream elixir, a signature Jasmine & Neroli face oil, launched an eponymous line of luxury skincare and lifestyle products. Models, makeup artists, and everyday women fell in love with the sophisticated oil and an international cult following quickly grew.

Supergoop-2639.jpg

Supergoop

"I’m here to change the way you think about sunscreen. No longer is it a sticky, tacky, smelly mess that you put up with at the beach. It’s a feel good lotion, a refreshing makeup setting spray, your got-to-have-it mousse, that you’ll want to wear. Every. Single. Day." -Holly Taggard

After losing a close friend to skin cancer, Taggard promised herself that she would make a difference. She learned that the number one reason we don’t use SPF is because it doesn’t feel good on the skin. Not to mention that at the time (and still today), most formulas were full of controversial ingredients that no one should be putting on their largest organ (your skin!). You’d think that would be easy to fix, but it took her three years to create her first formula, and she's never stopped innovating since. Supergoops' goal is to go where no SPF has gone before, and to do it with the most clean, ingredient-conscious formulas out there.

vintners.jpg

Vintner's Daughter

While researching her ever more complicated skincare regimen, winery owner, April Gargiulo realized that almost all of her highly touted skincare products contained high levels of ineffective, toxic fillers. As she researched more and discovered the cumulative damage these chemicals have on our systems, April sought out toxin free alternatives—trying everything from cult beauty oils to coconut butter.

Drawing from her experience in fine winemaking, April, alongside natural skincare veterans set out to create a “hero” formulation that would address all of her skincare needs—everything from fine lines and wrinkles to acne to elasticity and general radiance. Much like the fine winemaking process, Vintner’s Daughter begins by sourcing the world’s finest raw ingredients and honors these ingredients through an exacting and time-honored formulation process. The result is Active Botanical Serum, a powerful, multi-correctional serum for face that has earned a cult status the world over.
