A U T U M N 2016

This season at Cake, we are turning a new leaf…  New store, new team, new additions!  During the shoulder season, it’s easy to fall into a sour slump, and we are here to make sure that you stay style inspired. We’ve added a few new things to our offerings: a new store! (more on this in a minute), a lookbook tab on our website to showcase how we’ve styled our favorite pieces and we’ve begun updating our blog regularly to keep you informed of what/how/where we’re sporting our favorite Cake pieces. Want even more help? Our staff is now available for in-home closet styling. Putting outfits together doesn’t get any easier than that! Click on the “contact us” tab or give us a call in store for more details.

Let’s make use of the slower paced and gorgeous autumn and get prepped for the busy ski season ahead! This fall, Cake is your answer to all things designer chic. You can find classics that work great for your 9 to 5 or sexy separates for a night out on Main.  You will find the likes of Frame denim, Rag & Bone, Vince, Citizens of Humanity, and many more.  Of course, we are- as always- stocked with cozy layers that will keep you styled and extra snug this season!

Also…. we’d like to introduce you to our newest store, c | two by cake, which is a spin off to cake | boutique and your new best friend!  Opening its doors this summer, c | two is the epitome of luxury utilitarian. Think yummy (yet beautiful) lougewear, organic bath soaks and heavenly body oils. Pretty bralette and panty sets, effective skin care routines and gorgeous make up colors round out our offerings. Whether you’re treating yourself or treating a friend, c | two is not to be missed.

Cake is located at 577 Main Street and c | two at 511 Main Street. We are open from 10am-6pm on weekdays, 10am-7pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11am-6pm on Sundays. Being a badass woman is hard, come enjoy yourself and indulge in some retail therapy, you deserve it. We’ll see you soon!

How long have you worked at Cake? Overall about 10 months! So close to a year.

Who is your style icon? I would say I have two major style icons. The first Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (they count as one). They are so effortless and oversized. Plus they love the classic black and white, which you can never go wrong. Then on the complete opposite side of fashion I am a huge fan of Gwen Stefani. There is no one that pulls of jeans and a tee like she can. Shes the definition of a casual cool girl. But she also knows how to dress up in the best of ways.

What is your favorite season for buying clothes? Fall x 1000. I love huge scarfs, sweaters, and layers beyond layers. At the beginning of fall you are able to rock a simple leather jacket. Then towards the end of fall you can throw a sweater under the jacket, and a coat over it. Fall can do no wrong.

What are a few of your favorite brands? I think it varies from day to day depending on my mood. Right now we just received some 10 Crosby by Derek Lam that I am completely obsessed with, its very girlie. But then some days I cannot get enough of the edginess from NSF or the simplicity of rag & bone and Vince.

What item is your “must have” for this season & how would you style it? This spring season my must have item is definitely distressed denim. Denim is huge right now from the frayed hemlines, to flares. This season my go to outfit has been my Frame lightwash Jeanne crop, simple white tee, rag&bone Newburys, with a hat. Lately I always have a hat on.

When you aren’t in the store what can you be found doing? I like to volunteer, most of my time with my Little Sister from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah. Go kayaking, hiking, and just being at home with my family (the parental units, and Chihuahuas). I am almost always bent over a book, or watching makeup tutorials on YouTube, the real guilty pleasure.

How long have you worked at Cake? Almost 2 months now, and I’m loving it!

Who is your style icon? I am totally inspired by Taylor Swift. She is always in such a unique, amazing outfit no matter what time of day or night, and she is constantly around in four inch heels, which basically makes her superwoman. On the other hand, I love Alessandra Ambrosio’s beachy, bohemian style. She always looks so effortless and comfortable in the most chic way possible.

What is your favorite season for buying clothes? Being a California girl and growing up by the beach, I love summer! I moved to Park City in the middle of winter this year, and it has been culture shock having to wear jeans and sweaters every day. I’m finally getting used to lots of layers, but I can’t wait for some short shorts and maxi dresses!!!

What are a few of your favorite brands? It worked out nicely for me working at Cake because we carry some of my all time favorite brands. I’m a huge fan of Cynthia Vincent, Vince and Rag & Bone. I’ve also recently become obsessed with the simplicity and elegance of A.L.C.

What item is your “must have” for this season & how would you style it? I’ll admit it. I have a jumpsuit problem. I just bought the Cynthia Vincent Indian jumpsuit (it’s back in stock, btw) and have my eye on two more in the store to add to my collection at home. I love the how easy it is to wear them—you can dress one up with heels and leather jacket for night, or wear it during the day with sandals and a long necklace. If you don’t own a jumpsuit, you’re missing out.

When you aren’t in the store what can you be found doing? I’m a little bit of a homebody, so if I’m not at Cake you can usually find me at home curled up on the couch, cuddling with my puppy and fiancé, or in the kitchen cooking up someone’s favorite meal! I’m also loving all the outdoor activities here in Park City, and am so excited to hike around and explore this summer.

Mother's Day gifting: Maison du Soir

I have such a new appreciation for womankind after becoming a mom. The amount of selflessness, hard work and dedication that's required to be a parent is awe-inspiring. I truly believe that being a mom is the most difficult and important job in the world- I look at the days that I go to work at Cake as my days off! So it's wonderful to be able to take a day to pamper the women in our lives and let them know how much their love and sacrifice are appreciated.

We have a lot of gift ideas at Cake right now but my FAVORITE gifting item is our new pajamas from Maison du Soir. They are incredibly comfortable (so much so that you might be tempted to stay in them until lunchtime) but they are also incredibly chic (so it really doesn't matter if you do stay in them all morning!). We have several styles from which you can mix and match your preference- a tank top with a long bottom or a button up top with a cute matching short. My favorite combo is pictured below- the Stockholm button up top and the Jane night short.

So hugs to all of you moms out there, we wish you a day filled with love and pampering! Happy Mother's Day!
